Retreat: Tempe, Sauna, Water and Microgreens

     

Retreat: Tempe, Sauna, Water and Mircogreens at the Studio Arts Building at the University of Iowa. Below are some designs – above is a picture of a platform that is used for growing microgreens. It is raised and lowered by using two garage door openers in order to maximize space in the slender studio space provided for graduate students of sculpture while also moving the plants closer to a light source. Retreat is a collaborative venture between two graduate students (myself and Heidi Ratanavanich) that attempted to create what we refer to as relational infrastructure, or altering/generating structural interventions for the purpose of reorganizing existing relations of a given place, suggesting a desire to connect systems: intimacy, architecture, art, agency.  During our time in the Masters of Fine Arts Program at U of Iowa (2009-12)… (this page is under construction)
